Hi there,
My experience of humming with people in a circle is truly one of inspiration. When we’re there together, sending vibrations across the circle we are so obviously willing each other into a better existence . We are opening ourselves up into a communal moment of acceptance and affirmation. I am doing this constantly looking to see music-making as a practice of mutual healing and transformation. I believe that intention is succeeding, however minutely.

Wasn’t this game fun? The facial expressions are quite the additive bonus to the hilarious sounds. Here’s how we define the Imitation/Tag game. Can you think of other fun suggestions? One person begins with a continuous or repetitive sound. Whoever he/she looks at directly has to copy that sound perfectly before the first person stops. The second person then changes the initial sound into a new one and looks at another person to imitate it. This can also work with 2 people making separate sounds and being imitated for a thicker texture to listen to.

From the Barry Blesser book about acoustic architecture:
in a section called
-
Social Spheres and Acoustic Arenas
Ownership rules of an arena are created informally when two or more individuals congregate for a social interchange. Territorial bubbles appear as if by magic around a group of individuals if they begin to interact, and the group quickly acquires rights to the arena. When encountering such a social bubble with its implied acoustic arena, outsiders are reluctant to intervene or to create sonic events (Lindskold et al., 1976). The strength of ownership rights to an acoustic arena depends on the distance between individuals, their perceived status, and the nature of their interactions. Cultures assign implicit rights to acoustic arenas, and there are complex unwritten rules governing the size of an arena being claimed.
Doesn’t this just speak tomes of what the HMMM on St. Laurent could be??? It reminds me that it is important for all the stimulators to remain a good distance from each other.

We hummed outside in the park on St. Laurent and Marieanne. Just outside the zen centre that is in Leonard Cohen’s building. 7 of us standing in a circle. Just as I opened my eyes, a monk was standing in the doorway looking out at us and smiling.mmmmm
