‘ts gonna be so much fun!!!!!!!
DAN THE MAN
Dan is building this beautiful addition to the chalet in back, nearly all from recycled materials.
Old school green.

As I write this he’s tearing the wall down behind him. Its a beautiful day outside. Sun coming through after a long wait. Ahhhh
And here’s more progress pic’s.
Beautiful view, eh? Dan has finished the bottom enclosure and the top will be all windows. I watched as he placed these walls. They fit so snuggly that they almost didn’t need nails. What a craftsman!
Here is the inside… for future reference.
This guy is unbelievably handy! He needed a table for the table saw, so he fashioned one out of an old loom!
Later in the day, still more progress! The roof is going to be super complicated, but a fine challenge for my super handyman. Yesterday, completely out of the blue, an old friend dropped in on Dan, and offered to help with the roof. He even happened to know of someone who had extra galvanized roofing! Its sunnier and warm today, I can smell the sea more which really defines the weather. Tia the cat, is getting more courageous in going out and stalking the beautiful goldfinches and purple thrushes that drop by the bird feeder.

LOTS-O-PROGRESS here!
Dan the man is buildin’ up a storm. well, actually if there is a storm we’re good. Cos Dan finished the roof. All by his lil’ ol’ self he finished the roof in galvanised. Now he makes frames for 6-8 windows tomorrow and we’ll put ‘em in, and then the cottage is sleepable, i.e. bug insolated.

Here’s the view from inside. yumm, eh? We’ll be putting the windows in tomorrow.

Ah, you should smell it. Full of fresh lumber and sawdust. There’s a stove just in back which we will add a chimney to so that we can come back in winter. Cozy sleeping quarters on the 2nd floor. So sweet.

This is typical 8pm out from our front window. Great view to chew BBQ on.

So, the addition that Dan built is basically the light brown stuff. We’ll be reshingling it with some old cedar shakes. The grey is so great for camouflage. Sometimes its barely visible (if you’re looking from far away enough).
The sign in the picture says Gaz Diesel, which I think makes the view all the more romantic. There’s an old service station that’s on its last legs just across the way (looking about to drop off into the river). Its run by our next door neighbour, Tony Fournier, a sweet guy.

We picked DULSE on the beach the other day. Later I put it in a nice fish chowder. Super healthy. I’m going to pick more dulse, and dry to use as flakes.
